Living & Dining

I'm busily working on getting my house decorated and free from boxes. It's a slow process, mostly because I can't decide what I want, but I did make some recent purchases that I had to share.

I've been on the hunt for curtain fabric for my living room for a long time now. I've waffled back and forth on what I wanted and finally found a pair of inspiration pics to guide me.

I know what you're thinking. There are no curtains to be found in either of these photos. Good observation. But, there is a color palette that I'm loving. Pale blue-green walls with loads of white trim. Pops of bold teal, sunny yellow, bright green and even a dash of red. Love it! I'd already purchased paint for the walls, a blue-green that is slightly more blue than the paint in these photos (Behr's Valley Mist), and have a teal lamp and doormat. Now to add in some of the other colors. Here's how:

The floral plaid (love it's kitschy feel) and the tone-on-tone teal prints will be used for pillows or other accessories. And the happy yellow suzani fabric will be for the afore-mentioned curtains. I'm super duper excited at this find, especially since I managed to snag 6 yards of it (home decor quality, mind you) plus a half yard each of the other fabrics for less than $40. Wahoo!! I also ordered a light fixture for the dining room that is similar to this beauty:

Mine will be 20 inches in diameter and have a white cord. I can't tell you how excited I am to have finally crossed a few things off my list, including a living room sofa (on order, I'll spill about it later) and maybe even a new dining room table. And I'm nearly done making the curtains for our master bedroom. Check back soon (next week maybe) for photos of that.

P.S. I have no idea on the source for my inspiration photos. I found them separately, but am pretty sure they're from the same house. If you know where they're from, please share!

Love that palette! I'm immediately thinking of changes I can make to my house. I fell asleep last night wondering about cheap changes I could make...maybe it's a new palette.
