This Week's Menu {Apr 18} + Party Menu

Anyone else feeling totally uninspired when it comes to menu planning lately? I've mentioned it before, but I really do hate cooking. With a passion. As a result, I also hate planning our meals for the week. I see it as a necessary evil though, as it's been the only thing keeping up from the drive thru lane. I say that so you understand why this week's plan is so lame. Ugh. I'm in a funk.

Monday - Almond Crusted Pork Chops (this got skipped last week)
Tuesday - Spaghetti
Wednesday - Lime Garlic Chicken
Thursday - Leftovers
Friday - Waffles
Saturday - Chicken & Vegetable Rice Bake (that's right, a junky frozen dinner)

I will say I'm far less apathetic about menu planning for Charlotte's birthday party. I mentioned last week that my thoughts have revolved around this party as of late. Nothing has changed in a week's time. I'm still thinking about it nonstop and have gone so far as to draw a treasure map of my backyard. What can I say? I live for planning in excess!

As I already lamented, the part of the plan I was struggling with most was the menu. I want something simple, kid-friendly and in keeping with the Peter Pan theme. I've done much searching and thanks in large part to your suggestions, here's the plan so far:

Chicken Nuggets (aka Pirate's Gold)
Bowtie Pasta Salad (aka Pixie Wings)
Veggie Tray (aka Crocodile Crunch)
Fruit Skewers (aka Fairy Wands)
Goldfish Crackers (aka Catch of the Day)
Trail Mix (aka Lost Boy Munch)
Peanut Butter Balls (aka Cannonballs)
Cupcakes (aka Pirate Ships)
Acorn Cookies (aka Peter's Kisses)
Ginger Ale (aka Pirate's Grog)

I'm super excited that I've managed to come up with such a fun plan! I'm still on the lookout for one more side dish (and themed name), so feel free to offer up suggestions. And check back over the next few weeks as I reveal more of the party ideas.

I'm always fond of those meatballs with grape jelly and chili sauce that show up at every potluck, but you already have cannonballs...

Those gold foil covered chocolate coins could be treasure...
